Maternal Birth Leave and Paid Parental Leave
To enhance work-life balance, the State provides eligible employees up to 120 hours of maternal birth leave in the three weeks immediately following childbirth and up to 240 hours of paid parental leave each year. The documents found on this web page are intended for executive branch state agencies. Employees in other branches of state government or local education agencies should contact their designated agency/entity contacts or human resources office for assistance.
Maternal Birth Leave Resources
The state law establishing Maternal Birth Leave (MBL) for eligible employees becomes effective July 1, 2026. Resources for administering MBL will be added in the near future.
