16.4 Weapons

Weapons are made available only to certified state or local government law enforcement agencies and will not be disposed of through public sale. They may be traded to statewide contract weapons vendors for new weapons and processed as Vendor Returns.

Some agencies have statutory authority (O.C.G.A. §27-1-16/35-2-49/35-3-11/3-2-30/48-11-19) to issue weapons to officers upon retirement. These requests will be managed on a case-by-case basis and through the Vendor Return process.
